Challenge Tracking Links

  • Tip: To prevent upset colleagues, for profiles part of or managed (and sometimes PPP't) by multiple Projects or projects other then Tennessee Project, it's best to just add the source you found in a post to the profile and leave it to a project member to add it to the Bio.
Not all projects are charmed if everyone is editing PPP Profiles they are managing, some have a more or very specific way of adding sources, so if you add them in a post they can add them to the Bio in their own specific way themselves and won't get upset.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

This year it's easier than ever to join in the fun.

You can use any profiles from the Unsourced profiles categories: Category:Unsourced_Profiles as well as a couple specific Data Doctor suggestions lists.

Most teams also have tables on their pages with team specific profiles that need sources. Clicking on the numbers give you lists of profiles you can source. It's a great idea to let your team members know which part of the table you're working on if you choose this approach.

1. Choose a profile.

2. Add a good source. For more information on sources, see our Sources help page: Sources

3. Remove the {{Unsourced}} template or [[Category:Unsourced Profiles]] categorization, if there are any.

4. Click the "Challenge Tracker" button at the very top of the page and choose the "Source-a-Thon" option.

Move on to the next profile!

Here's a handy video to help you out: http://youtu.be/dbhcrvsoUVU

HANGOUTS AND PRIZES

The $5700+ in door prizes will be given away in Google Hangout video chats we're hosting every X hours. Here's the schedule: Source-a-Thon_Hangouts

We'll announce winners there as well as post them in G2G here: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/472795/who-will-win-the-source-a-thon-prizes

If your bib number is drawn, you need to claim your prize by responding in the G2G post. You only have until the next Hangout to claim your prize.

The winner has to be participating during the time period in which the their number is drawn. If your number is drawn when you're not online, your number will go "back in the hat" and you'll be eligible for future drawings.

QUESTIONS

Any questions can be asked on your team chat thread or on the official G2G Source-a-Thon Question thread: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/472793/do-you-have-source-a-thon-questions

It will have other helpful links and announcements, as well.
